Who would you recommended as an internet provider in Alcaucin?
Hi we are moving to the area approx 2.5 km up from Puente don Manuel on the Zafarria road. Can anyone recommend an internet provider and the monthly cost?
Thanks Trish

Take a look at FOBOS Internet
Good question. We've just bought a house very near Alcaucin and 2 locals to the area (1 English, 1 Spanish) both recommend WI-NET http://wi-net.es/
There is good reception from an antenna near the Moor castle. Anywhere in sight of this gets a good service I'm told. Personally I have no experience, just what they use. The Spanish person says up to 20mbs with good latency. Even good enough for xBox games I'm told.
I need a good provider soon, but because I am living in Alcaucin for short periods only I need a company that you don'y have to pay when you are absent. I am told it is possible to have a contract and only pay for months you are present.
Does anyone know of such a provider? Thanks.

Hi Trish. I too am moving into the local area & wonder what has been your experience & knowledge concerning getting an Internet Provider? Thanks.
I am now set up very well with Broadband for Spain www.bb4s.com.
Their English fitter was very professional and I find the service good. I get 9mbps down and 1-2mbps up, which is sufficient for me. If you buy an IPTV box from them they set up free English TV programs for you. The box works with an HDMI cable - or Scart on our old Spanish TV which is 1280 rather than the HD 1920.
We went for the "Essential Internet" at 31€ per month (37.51€ month including tax). We had to pay 6 months in advance. After this you can stop the service in monthly bocks should you wish - for example if you return to UK for a few months.
Very satisfied. You only need line of sight to one of the transmitter antennae, which we had with a 1.5 metre pole on our chimney.
I hope this helps and good luck.
