Hi, I have recently arrived in Spain where I now plan to retire with my Jack Russell dog. I love him dearly. The problem is, he is fifteen years old with a heart condition. However as long as I am able to give him one of his prescribed tablets per day,he is fine. He eats sleeps and enjoys his walks in the same way as he has always done. He has been well looked after by an excellent vet in the UK, and I am now looking for one in or around Frigiliana, where I am now living. The tablets he is taking are CARDISURE (for his heart), and VIVITONEN (for his circulation). Any help would be appreciated.

Our dog also had heart tablets. We use a vet in Nerja, Xpedito, or there are several other ones there, but he speaks English

They are in or near calle chaparil opposite Andalucian paints l can try to.get the practice name if you would like?

Thank you Sue for replying so quickly.Funnily enough I went to both Frigiliana and Nerca today, but after being sent on a few wild goose chases from locals who obviously don't wish to admit they really don't know, I am really no further in my quest. So any help that will direct me correctly, would be greatly appreciated. You will.need to bear in mind, however, that I do not know Nerja all that well, and so please give me as many detailed directions as you can. I really would appreciate it.

Hello again Charles

The vets are called Clinica San Fernando in called chaparil edificio corona , local 5.  Tl. 952521838 receptionist spks English, call 1st to check when Xpedito will be there as there is a lady vet who doesn't SPK English from memory. We prefer Xpedito he is a natural when it comes to dealing  with animals. You need to find the big supersol on the cobbled bridge past the el puente bar, turn right at the roundabout at supersol heading for hotel Riu and perla Marina carry on down the road and take the last but one left turn at the end, telepizza on the corner. Just after turning there is a free parking area on the left, u can park on road nearer the vets but that's pot luck especially now. Once parked walk to the left past 2 minimarkets past Riu hitsl on right then when you come to the Chinese restaurant( by the way our daughters hair beauty salon is opposite!) Turn up.the road go.past Rockefeller nite club and vets r just up.on the right! Good luck. Sue

Wow Sue those directions are quite specific. Thank you I'll head off tomorrow just to find the place, even if Xpedito isn't in. Thank you once again for your trouble.

Hi Charles, in case you've not got the vet sorted out yet -  I live in Penoncillo and there's an excellent vet I use, just located on the Torrox Coast road, in front of Penoncillo Playa (beach). It's part of a chain, Clinicas Veterinarias but there is a big VET sign in blue. The vet is Spanish but speaks good English. I have two dogs and have been with one of them a few times. He's very nice and the receptionist, Steffi, is German but fluent in English and Spanish. If you come down from Frigliana, turn right onto the Torrox Coast road (lovely drive) and keep going until you come to pass Chiringito El Barco on the beach, then you'll pass a boat yard, and just past that there's a parade of shops - there's a second hand furniture store, Clinica Blanca further along, and just past that, the vets. It would only take you about 8 mins to drive it from the Nerja roundabout and there is always parking. Nerja is notoriously difficult for parking, especially in summer. The phone number is 952 53 25 87.

Best of luck!

Thank you very much for this information. Truth is, at the moment I have no car. I hired a car originally for 10 days, but that has run out. I do have a car lined up for me to buy (hopefully) next Wednesday, and my dog seems to be fine at the moment, (must be this fine weather). So I am hoping that once I get some wheels I will be able to take him. I really appreciate this forum, and I will definitely keep you all updated. There are many other things that I will use this forum for. But my dog  Chip takes pride of place. Thank you again, and please watch this space.

Hi Charlie,

ok but if you are ever stuck, note this taxi number as they speak English and will know the vets in Torrox Costa - just in case but I hope Chip will be fine till you get your car. The No is 636 812 324. :)
