I wanted to raise the issue of dog fouling; we purchased a property at Casares Golf Gardens 1yr ago, we absolutely love the area, its so beautiful however, there seems to be an issue with dog fouling, is there no rules/laws about picking it up?

We were at a cash-point on the main run in Sabanillas and a Spanish couple allowed their dog to foul right behind us, the smell made me wretch, they did not pick it up and walked on, only a couple of minutes later as I walked away wretching another couple going to the cash-point actually stepping in it.

This is not an isolated incident, walking along the see front it is litter with dog foul.

What is the general rule?

Thanks

Ange

Hi

We also bought an apartment in Casares a year ago and yes I agree with you , the dog fouling is apparent . On the beach path down towards Sabinillas it is quite bad even though there are fine notices displayed .  Hopefully dog owners will learn to be more respectful as it is spoiling a very beautiful area .

We live in Alhuarin el grande and the dog fouling here is escalating also   It’s every where you go now I find myself looking on the pavements instead of enjoying a nice walk and browsing round shops and restaurants  I think dog fouling has defiantly worsened in the last 12 months makes me wretch to   Something needs to be done

I am glad it is not just us, there are a lot of dog owners and I do see people picking up, usually the brits I think??

Such a shame as it is a beautiful place, something needs to be done to ensorce the picking up rule.

Hi. Still on the subject of dog fouling   I have noticed a lot more strays about in the past few months this obviously is adding to the situation   We were sat a couple of weeks ago having a meal in a restaurant we were sat at a seat by the window and a lady come along with her dog on a lead and let it jump up on to a built up garden and let it foul and just walked off   I have seen more signs up about fines for dog fouling but nobody policeing the situation   Babs

The law is dog owners  clean up their dogs mess. We live right on the beachfront in  Casares  Costa and have 3 collies  and always clean up after them and even  clear up other peoples dogs poo that has just been left. It is the owners who are at blame, most do clean up after their dogs but it is the small % that  dont who give other responsible dog owners a bad name.

I agree about the small % of dog owners who give the rest of us a bad name, but what annoys me the most are human beings who in large numbers throw their rubbish on the ground, leave on walls, throw in foliage. A far worse crime than a few bad dog owners not picking up and a far more prevalent one too.

Hi everyone,

I know that in Coín there is a law and the cost of not picking up the dog poo is 300€ !

It would be great  if dog owners on walks with their dogs who could not provide evidence of doggy bags then an on the spot fine could be imposed for each dog that the owner  has in his control. €s for Ayuntamiento and less pohh on the streets. The fines would pay for the cost of policeing.
